Originally, I thought I would pursue a PhD in physics; my Bachelor’s degree is in physics; however, when I happened to read “Intro to Proofs: A Long-Form Mathematics Textbook” by Jay Cummings, the course of my life changed.
I am currently a Master’s student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the Mathematics and Statistics Department, working with Professor Emily Gunawan and another Master’s student, Stephanie Atherton. We are studying the combinatorics of Coxeter groups by using quiver representations. However, I am also interested in analysis and number theory! I am working on my master’s thesis with Professor Joris Roos on the Hardy-Littlewood-Ramanujan Circle method.
For those who are very curious, here’s my CV.
Stephanie Atherton and I are currently organizing a student-run seminar to study p-adic analysis! If you are interested, head over to The P-adic People Seminar (a wonderful cite set up by Stephanie Atherton).
Some of my non-math-related interests are sleight-of-hand magic (mostly cards) and Marvel movies (haven’t missed an opening-night movie since 2016). My favorite magic trick that I have seen (on TV/online) is the following performance of Asi Wind on Penn and Teller. And my favorite superhero is, by far, Captain America.1 His character and rectitude are something that I admire and strive for.
- I know that it’s technically incorrect, grammatically, to start a sentence with the word “and”; however, I am a rebel. ↩︎
